Well here at My Untitled Folder we have a solution for you.  The Closet Entrepreneur had a great article about how to turn a bunch of junk cardboard into a stand for your computer.  Today I had a slower day and was completely sick of hunching over my desk so I decided to give it a whirl.  The picture shows the result and I would recommend the stand to anyone who had a 15 or 13 inch macbook/macbook pro.  The structure just seems too narrow for a 17inch and since it has little feet the side cd drive on the new laptops (late 08) works way better.  If I see any drastic improvements while playing WOW (Laptop fans spin like no tomorrow) I will post.

Laptop stand

The stand looks great! :)

I’ve noticed that my MacBook does indeed run a bit cooler just by getting it off a flat surface, but definitely let me know if you see any improvement with the laptop stand!

As a little update for you all (especially Tomas) the laptop still seems to speed up the fans under load but there is a tremendous difference when it is coming down from a load. Since it is inclined it dissipates the heat much quicker and the fans do not need to run as long. I have read though that propping like this does damage the hard drives. However, we have Time Machine these days and drives are always getting cheaper so this should not deter you. Peace!
